Barcelona, 13 July 2026 – Pangea Propulsion today inaugurated its new industrial facility for the manufacturing, assembly, integration and validation of space propulsion systems in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat. Covering 1,000 square metres and backed by a planned investment of €7 million over the next three years—of which €1 million has already been invested—the new facility marks the start of a new phase of industrialisation for the company and strengthens its ability to develop strategic technologies for the European space sector.

The new facility will bring together critical capabilities for manufacturing, inspection, assembly, integration and functional validation of propulsion systems, shortening development cycles, accelerating technological innovation and facilitating the integration of its products with customers. Among the first projects to be hosted at the site are the integration of Nereus, Pangea Propulsion’s satellite propulsion system, with the re-entry capsule of one of its private customers, and the integration of ARCOS, the world’s first full-scale methalox aerospike engine.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Minister for Industry and Tourism, Jordi Hereu; the Minister for Business and Labour of the Government of Catalonia, Miquel Sàmper; the Mayor of L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, David Quirós Brito; and the Director General for Strategy and Innovation in the Defence Industry at the Spanish Ministry of Defence, Miguel Ivorra Ruiz; as well as representatives from institutions and diplomatic missions, investors and strategic partners from the aerospace sector.

“Putting this facility into operation marks a turning point and the beginning of a new stage of industrial maturity for Pangea Propulsion. Having developed and validated key propulsion subsystems and technologies, we needed a space in which to turn this innovation into products ready to meet our customers’ needs. This infrastructure, together with the talent of our team—which has grown by nearly 30% this year—will allow us to respond quickly to growing market demand and consolidate our position as a strategic player in European space propulsion,” said Adrià Argemí, CEO and co-founder of Pangea Propulsion.

A new step in the company’s industrialisation

The new facility incorporates advanced industrial capabilities for the development of space propulsion systems. The workshop brings together additive manufacturing, precision machining, metrology, advanced welding, assembly in controlled environments and systems integration, strengthening traceability, quality control and hardware preparation for qualification or delivery.

With these capabilities, Pangea Propulsion will be able to manufacture, integrate and validate its propulsion systems more efficiently, shortening development cycles, accelerating innovation and facilitating product integration with customers.

At a time when the space and defence sectors are becoming increasingly important, the facility strengthens a critical European capability—space propulsion—and helps position Spain as a significant industrial player in advanced technologies for future space and dual-use missions.

The facility will drive Pangea Propulsion’s next technological milestones

The new infrastructure will accelerate several of the company’s strategic programmes. This year, Nereus is scheduled to be integrated with the re-entry capsule of one of Pangea Propulsion’s private customers, whose mission will be ready for flight in early 2027.

The facility will also be instrumental in the integration of ARCOS, the world’s first full-scale methalox aerospike engine. This milestone will represent a decisive step in validating a technology designed to improve the efficiency of future space launch systems.

During his remarks, Minister Sàmper noted that “in just a few years, Pangea Propulsion has grown from a Barcelona-born start-up into an internationally oriented company capable of competing in a highly technological and strategic sector”. In this regard, he added that “Catalonia aims to consolidate its position as a leading hub in the new space economy, and companies such as Pangea demonstrate that high-value-added technologies with global impact can be developed in Catalonia”.

For his part, David Quirós, Mayor of L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, said: “Pangea’s arrival in L’Hospitalet represents a major opportunity for the city. Projects like this attract expertise, create highly skilled jobs and consolidate an innovation ecosystem capable of competing internationally.”

€7 million investment and 30% headcount growth

The opening of the new facility forms part of Pangea Propulsion’s industrial growth plan. The company expects to invest €7 million in the site over the next three years, of which €1 million has already been invested.

This growth is also reflected in the team. Over the past year, headcount has risen from 77 to nearly 100 professionals, an increase of almost 30%, driven primarily by the recruitment of specialists in manufacturing, assembly, supply chain and testing. The company expects to add at least five new professionals by the end of the year and around 25 more over the next three years.

With this new facility, Pangea Propulsion consolidates its industrialisation process and strengthens its ability to transform advanced propulsion technologies into market-ready products that can be integrated with customers, helping to reinforce Europe’s industrial base and develop strategic capabilities for the space and dual-use sectors.
