The co-founder and CEO of Pangea Propulsion has been recognised for his entrepreneurial journey and his commitment to developing proprietary space technology from Barcelona with an international outlook.

Barcelona, 14 September 2026. — Adrià Argemí, co-founder and CEO of Pangea Propulsion, has received the XXXIII Jove Empresari Award, presented by AIJEC, the Association of Young Entrepreneurs of Catalonia, in recognition of his entrepreneurial journey and his contribution to the development of proprietary technology in a strategic sector such as space.

The award was presented during a ceremony held at the Palau de la Música Catalana, bringing together entrepreneurs, business leaders and representatives from Catalonia’s economic and institutional community. Argemí was one of three finalists, alongside Beatriz Mesas, co-founder of Incapto Coffee, and Pablo Linz, founder and CEO of Immfly.

The jury, made up of representatives from institutions, universities, business organisations and the media, highlighted Argemí’s ability to build a high-value technology company from Catalonia, with a clear commitment to innovation, industrialisation and internationalisation.

Building space technology from Barcelona

During his speech at the ceremony, Argemí opened with a line by Catalan poet Miquel Martí i Pol: “Tot està per fer i tot és possible” — “Everything is yet to be done, and everything is possible.” The phrase, he explained, captures what it means to build a deep-tech company from Barcelona: daring to create what does not yet exist and turning ambitious ideas into technology, industry and the future.

Founded in Barcelona in 2018, Pangea Propulsion is a European company specialising in advanced space propulsion systems. The company develops engines and propulsion systems for launch vehicles, satellites and spacecraft, with the aim of making space missions more efficient, competitive and sustainable.

In recent years, Pangea has evolved from its early stages of technology development towards a company focused on the industrialisation of its products. In July 2026, the company inaugurated a new 1,000 m² industrial workshop in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, marking an important step towards the manufacturing, assembly, integration and testing of its propulsion systems.

Today, the company has a team of more than 100 people and is working to bring technology developed in Barcelona to space missions across Europe and other international markets.

For Argemí, this recognition reflects precisely this opportunity: demonstrating that it is possible to build deep-tech companies from Barcelona, develop industrial capabilities and create businesses with global ambitions.

“This award is, above all, for my team. For all the people who have believed in this vision, who have taken risks, overcome challenges and continue to make it possible for a Catalan company to build some of Europe’s most innovative space engines.”

A recognition of the whole team

During his speech, Argemí highlighted that Pangea Propulsion’s journey is not the story of one person, but the result of the work of an entire team.

Since its beginnings, Pangea has been committed to developing proprietary technology in Europe to contribute to more efficient and affordable access to space. The company focuses on propulsion, one of the fundamental technologies enabling space missions, developing solutions for different applications and stages of a mission.

“Engines that are born here, in Barcelona, but will fly on missions across Europe and around the world,” Argemí highlighted during the ceremony.

The AIJEC award also comes at a particularly significant moment for Pangea Propulsion, as the company enters a new phase of growth and industrialisation and advances its main propulsion programmes.

Driving Europe’s space industry forward

Beyond recognising an individual entrepreneur, the Jove Empresari Award also highlights the role that a new generation of entrepreneurs can play in building a more competitive and autonomous European technology and space industry.

For Pangea Propulsion, developing space technology from Barcelona also means generating knowledge, attracting and developing talent, and contributing to the development of Europe’s industrial capabilities.

“Receiving this award is a huge honour, but also a responsibility: to demonstrate that from Barcelona we can build deep-tech, industrial and global companies,” Argemí said.

With more than three decades of history, the AIJEC Jove Empresari Award recognises young entrepreneurs who stand out for their entrepreneurial journey, innovation and ability to generate economic and social impact.

In this XXXIII edition, AIJEC also recognised Aurax Technology with the Award for Best Business Initiative, Jaume Alsina, founder of BonÀrea, with the Recognition for Business Career, as well as L2S 1001, Arkeobots and FEEL-ITin the categories of business language quality, social entrepreneurship and future enterprise, respectively.

For the Pangea Propulsion team, the recognition of Adrià Argemí is also a recognition of everyone who is part of this journey and who works every day to turn a vision into real technology.
